Outdoor security floodlights generally add some functions to ordinary LED floodlights, such as a photocell, PIR Sensor device, and solar, which can make the lights turn on or off intelligently. Or with the camera to realize the monitoring function. This kind of light is mostly used in residential areas or backyards, and the power is between 10W and 50Watt.
If you want your floodlights to be automatically turned off during the day and turned on at night, then dusk-to-dawn floodlights are the best solution for you.
The dusk-to-dawn flood lights, also called photocell flood lights, mean there is a photocell device on the floodlights. When the light intensity of the surrounding environment decreases to a certain level (at night or sunset), the light controller will automatically turn on the LED flood light; otherwise, it will automatically turn off the flood lamp fixture.
Motion floodlights are smart light fixtures. It added an extra sensor device to the floodlights. It uses the sensor to detect the movement of objects within a certain range and decides whether to turn on or turn off the flood lights. Generally, there are PIR sensors and Microwave radar sensors optional. PIR Sensor floodlights mainly rely on sensing the movement of objects with a certain temperature to turn on or turn off the lights, such as people, animals, etc. However, Microwave radar floodlights can sense the movement of any object. And it is a more sensitive and better solution than the PIR Sensor type. But the cost is also higher.
The motion detector is a small device that can detect infrared waves, that is, heat waves radiated from moving objects. When the detector detects an object moving in its field of view—especially warmer objects such as people, animals, and cars—it turns on the floodlights automatically. It will turn off smartly when the PIR Sensor does not detect any movement. In this case, it can save energy to the maximum.
